camera will not work on zoom

This can happen for various reasons, but the most common reason is that the camera needs to be opened in order to change a lens or recharge its battery.

As long as you are aware of this issue, you won't be surprised if your camera will refuse to work when zoomed in too far.

If it happens unexpectedly and your battery is low and there's no place nearby with electricity, perform the following steps:

1) Use another camera with a working zoom function.

2) Remove all batteries from your current camera except one spare set (preferably charged).

3) Reinsert the batteries, close the camera and turn it on.

4) Open the camera and zoom in all the way.

5) Use your working camera to take pictures of this one while you open its flash compartment, zoom in all the way again, open the flash compartment and press the shutter.

a) If this does not work, try opening the battery compartment and pressing a couple of buttons.

b) If this does not work either, leave everything as it is, remove all batteries and try again with a new set of batteries (preferably charged).

c) If nothing works even now, leave it alone for an hour or two without any power cord attached or any other human intervention.

6) If nothing happens, head for the nearest electrical supply store and buy a card reader.

7) Insert your memory card either into the camera's memory card slot or into the card reader (without turning the camera on).

8) Use another camera to take pictures of this one while you press buttons, open compartments and turn it on and off. Make sure to check all compartments and buttons, including any that look unfamiliar.

9) If you have another working camera with a bad zoom lens, remove all batteries from this working camera and use it to take more pictures of your broken one.
